CFNR AT A GLANCE

For more than a century, the College of Forestry and Natural Resources (CFNR) remains the oldest and finest academic institution of higher learning in forestry education in the Philippines. The College embarks on collaborative and interdisciplinary programs in various fields such as watershed management, climate change, silviculture, ecology, biodiversity, physiology, agroforestry, pulp and paper technology, natural resources management, policy formulation, governance, economics, and social forestry.

Its excellent instruction, research and extension facilities are manned by top-caliber faculty members, competent research, extension and professional staff and administrative personnel. Its own nature laboratory, the 4,244-hectare Makiling Forest Reserve, which was recently declared as ASEAN Heritage Park, is a showcase of rich flora and fauna geared toward the advancement of scientific and technical knowledge on the conservation and development of forests and associated ecosystems. Further, the College’s state-of-the-art laboratories, large classrooms and seminar rooms are aimed to serve specific needs—from lectures, demonstrations and experiments to local and international symposia and workshops.
